The Lego Robotic enrichment class have been building their robots and learning some basics ideas behind programming. Here are some pictures showing robots (students) trying to work through a basic program to stack cups in a certain design. Students took turn writing programs and being the robot to perform the task. Students learned that even really easy tasks can require some long programs to actually get it done.
Fifth graders have been working on creating some comic strips to show the stepping up strategies they have learned. Students had to create an avatar and some other characters for their comic. For the first three assignments, students got a story starter and then they had to finish the story with a stepping up strategy. The final comic is one that they need to create from beginning to end. Here are some pictures of students collaborating while they work on their comic. Take a peek in a few weeks to see some of their finished comics. Fourth graders are creating stepping up Stop Motion videos. They have been busy at work for the past several weeks. Once they formed their groups, they decided on what type of bullying and stepping up would occur in their story. The group then wrote their stories and planned out their pictures on a storyboard. They created their own settings and characters to tell their story and rehearsed, rehearsed, rehearsed. Some group have begun filming and will begin the editing process in movie maker. Here's a peek of the fourth graders in action! |
