I try to teach the students that many of the electronics they use have dangerous chemicals inside them that are needed to make them work. We collect old electronics and laptops as well as batteries to dispose of properly. It is important that we don't throw these electronics and batteries into the regular trash where they can leak out of a landfill and into our soil and water. We need to get these items into a Hazardous Waste site that has extra protections to keep these harmful chemicals from polluting our lands and waters. Every fall and winter, Muskegon County plans a day where county residents can bring their hazardous waste to be disposed of properly. This Saturday, April 23rd, will be the Spring Collection.
